SERVICES - EMERGENCY SERVICES

The Emergency Department at Grace Cottage Hospital is fully equipped for treatment, stabilization and life-support 24 hours a day. The medical staff and nurses have specialized training in emergency care, and access to state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and a digital radiology department including a CAT scan.

Although Grace Cottage Hospital cannot admit critically ill or injured patients in need of surgery or ICU, the ER staff stabilizes the patient for transport by ambulance or helicopter to a hospital with the appropriate level of care - typically Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, or another hospital as needed.

Charlie (5) and Joe (3) Clynes“Our son, Charlie, was 19 months old when he caught a tough case of croup. We’d dealt with croup before, but this time was different. Dr. Kimona Alin was on call in the Grace Cottage ER the night we brought Charlie in, and she thought so too. When Charlie showed little response to the usual treatments, Dr. Alin arranged for an airlift to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he was intubated.
