VALLEY HEALTH COUNCIL
THRIFT SHOP: Knick Knacks and other small household items are
needed to sell. Hours are 10-4, Mon., Wed., Fri. and Sat.
VAN SCHEDULE: In cooperation with The Council on Aging, the Valley
Health Council sponsors four van trips each month. On the first and
third Thursdays, the van makes the round trip from Weston/Londonderry
to Springfield, VT and back (call 824-6521 for reservations). On the
first and third Fridays, the van connects Wardsboro/Townshend with Brattleboro
(call 365-7140 x118).
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Jean Maples, who coordinates the volunteers
at the Thrift Shop, needs more help. Volunteers generally work a 3-hour
shift, either morning or afternoon; the need for volunteers on Fridays
and Saturdays is particularly acute. When there isn't a volunteer for
a certain shift, the shop must be closed. Call Jean at 254-1258. Drivers
are also needed to take people to medical appointments - call Elaine
Scott at 365-7140 x. 118 if this would be of interest.
POSITION OPEN: The Valley Health Council has an opening for a
Homemaker. Applicants should call Elaine Scott for an interview, 365-7140,
x. 118.
ROBERT CROWELL SCHOLARSHIP: It's not too late to apply for the
$1000 scholarship, awarded annually to someone in the West River Valley
who is pursuing a career in health care.
MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOANS: Walkers, commodes, canes, shower benches,
and other types of medical equipment are available for loan. Call the
Valley Health Council for more information.
