Long-term
care administrator Maggie Lewis accepted the Nursing Home Quality
Award for Stratton House and a check for $25,000 from Patrick
Flood, Commissioner of Vermont's Department of Aging and Disabilities,
at a ceremony on May 29th. |
"This is
not an easy award to get and when you win an award like this, it
means that you are among the best of the best," said Patrick
Flood, Vermont's Commissioner of Aging and Disabilities, as he presented
Vermont's Nursing Home Quality Award to Stratton House Nursing Home.
A check for $25,000 came with the award, which "recognizes
outstanding nursing homes which have met high standards in quality
of care for Vermont's nursing home residents."
Flood explained
his statement about "the best of the best" by pointing
out that, according to statistical data, Vermont is second only
to Virginia in terms of quality of nursing homes "I don't believe
the data - I think Vermont is first," he added, "and Stratton
House is one of only five nursing homes in the state to receive
this year's award." Flood observed that Stratton House received
some of the highest scores in the state on customer satisfaction
surveys. "The people who work here and the people who live
here should be very proud. Your community feels very committed to
this nursing home, and Stratton House is a very vital part of your
community." |
