| Grace Cottage
is surrounded by supporters with so many different talents, and
several of them are creating gardens that will enhance the lives
of patients, residents and staff members for years to come.
Outside Heins
Home, a community care home for 14 residents, Norm Flynn has created
a beautifully landscaped garden, complete with a stone walkway for
the oil delivery person! Heins Home residents greatly enjoyed watching
the construction of the garden, which took place during a two-day
period in May. It's between the Heins Home driveway and the dining
room - come take a look.
Joan
McConnel has been working hard on the Helen McConnel Lewis memorial
garden, just outside the Hospice Room at the hospital. She's planting
yellow, blue, white and green perennials, and would appreciate plant
donations. The stone wall, built by Richard Anderberg, and the stone
bench, created by John Evans, add to the garden's beauty. On another
project, Joan has finished painting the fountain donated by the
Otis daughters (located outside the entrance to the physicians'
practices) and it's wonderful to have it here. Photos of the hospital
during the 1950's show the same fountain in its original state.
Jim Florschutz
has created a beautiful and fitting memorial to his wife, Karen
Deininger, in the oval garden area outside the Hospice Room entrance.
Jim designed and sandblasted the stone, which is shaded by a flowering
plum tree and surrounded by sedum.
Ken Hoffman,
Jodi Perkins and Joel Tidd continue to maintain and add to the Mollie
Beattie Woodland Garden and the Garden of Grace. |
