GRACE COTTAGE DONORS QUICK TO MATCH HOLT FUND CHALLENGE GRANT

In less than one month, 83 donors from 14 states and three countries contributed a total of over $58,000 to meet the Holt Fund challenge grant (see page 1) for a new truck and bus for Grace Cottage Hospital. This rapid and generous response far exceeded predictions, and overwhelmed hos- pital staff and board members.

As a result, Grace Cottage has ordered and received a Chevy Silverado 4WD 1 / 2 -ton pickup truck, and nurse prac- titioner Danielle Basta has already made many home visits during inclement (read: icy!) weather.

A 20- passenger bus has also been ordered and is on the assembly line, due for delivery in June or July. This bus, which will accommodate 16 ambulatory and 4 wheelchair- bound patients, will be used to increase access to medical care and recreational activities for many people in the West River Valley.
