AUXILIARY HAPPENINGS

The Auxiliary's fiscal year began with the annual meeting in the Townshend Church, October 18, 2000.

Officers elected to serve for the year 2000-01 were Jim Cecere, President; Annette Leigh and Patty Amirault, Vice Presidents; Cindy Stafford, Treasurer; Karen Emerson, Secretary; Barbara Barber, Assistant Secretary; Sharon Redfield, Assistant Treasurer. The membership voted to give $45,000 from the Fair Day net proceeds to hospital CEO Al LaRochelle. Al included words of appreciation for the contribution among remarks describing the state of the hospital.

Other highlights of the evening were: a talk by Maggie Lewis, newly- appointed long- term- care administrator at Grace Cottage; membership dues of $9,200 reported; and presentation of the Auxilian- of- the- Year award to Annette Leigh for "above and beyond" contribution throughout the year.

HELP PLEASE!

#1: The great early success of the Auxiliary was built on a foundation of support from each of the Valley towns. We seem to have gotten away from this to the extent that only a few Auxilians - very few - do the year- round work of our fellowship.

The solution? Volunteers in each of the valley towns to coordinate Auxiliary activity. They'll act as a liaison between our officers and their respective geographical areas and be responsible for carrying the message to their fellow townspeople. We call them Town Representatives. Filling these assignments is TOP PRIORITY. Please speak to any officer if you can take on one of these important assignments or, at least, be willing to talk about it.

#2: A volunteer is urgently needed to act as coordinator for scheduling part- time volunteer receptionists at the front desk at the hospital. Several friends of the hospital share desk duty now, on evenings and weekends when regular staff is reduced. Some assignments could be arranged, if necessary, from home. To volunteer or for more details, call Judy Ferenbach at 365- 7116 or at the hospital, 365- 7357.
