Newsletter - Spring 2001
VALLEY HEALTH COUNCIL EQUIPMENT LOANS: A recent grant received from the Vermont Community Foundation and the Flying Birch Fund has enabled the Valley Health Council to upgrade and increase the supply of durable medical equipment available for loan. New walkers, commodes, canes, shower benches and high- rise toilet seats have been ordered, and there should be enough of each of these items to satisfy the demand. Other items are also available on loan. POSITION AVAILABLE: Do you like interacting with people, primarily seniors? Do you have reliable transportation and enjoy cooking and housekeeping? If so, the Valley Health Council has a part- time position that would allow you not only to have the satisfaction of providing a much- needed service, but would reward you with a salary as well. TOENAIL CLINIC: A free toenail cutting clinic is held on the third Thursday of every month, 9- 11 a. m., at Grace Cottage. Mary Western, RN, is trained in foot care, and an appointment is not required. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Valley Health Council Thrift Shop is looking for volunteers to work a three- hour shift, mornings (10- 1) or afternoons (1- 4), Mon., Wed., Fri. or Sat. The dona- tion of even just one three- hour shift each month would help out. Call Jean Maples at 254- 1258. BIGGER BUS COMING! A 10- passenger van currently makes door- to- door trips between Weston/ Londonderry and Springfield, VT on the first and third Thursdays of the month. On the first and third Fridays, the van goes between Wardsboro/ Townshend/ Brattleboro. A 20- passenger van for Grace Cottage is on the assembly line, (see story, p. 2), and will replace the 10- passenger van this summer. For more information on any of the Valley Health Council items above, call Elaine Scott at 365-7140 ext. 118. |
