GRACE COTTAGE RECEIVES $655,500 FROM FANNY HOLT AMES & LOUISE HOLT TRUST

GRACE COTTAGE RECEIVES TRUST

On December 13, Fleet Bank presented Grace Cottage Foundation with a check for the Otis Health Care Center for the following programs:
  • Townshend Adult Activity Center Expansion: A three- year grant totaling $245,648 to expand the number of qual- ity adult day care openings from 10 to 20 elderly and dis- abled adults with special needs.


  • Diagnostic Imaging Program: A one- year grant of $79,995 for purchase of a portable X- ray machine and an ultrasound machine.


  • Truck Transportation: a 1- for- 1 matching grant of $17,000 (matched by Grace Cottage donors) for the purchase of a vehicle for medical house call services to homebound patients.


  • Bus Transportation: A 1- for- 1 matching grant of $37,463 (matched by Grace Cottage donors) for the purchase of a small bus for use by long- term care residents at Grace Cottage and residents of nearby communities to increase their access to medical treatment.


  • Support for Emergency Medical & Training: a one- year grant of $93,061 for purchase of an ambulance and EMS & CPR training equipment.


  • Support for Services to the Underinsured and Uninsured - A one- time grant of $100,000 to support services provided to uninsured and underinsured patients.


  • Computer Technology Improvements: A one- year grant for $212,172 to upgrade and integrate the computer sys- tems in the laboratory, inpatient pharmacy and purchasing departments.

Three of Grace Cottage's applications were denied: expansion of Mental Health Services, Healthy Communities education and staff professional development.
Ten other non-profit organizations were selected to receive grants during the year 2000.
The Fanny Holt Ames and Edna Louise Holt Charitable Fund Trust, established in 1987 and now worth over $32 million, stipulates: "the net income to be distrib- uted at least annually to meet the medical needs of the Grafton, Vermont community and its surrounding towns, with primary consideration to be given to GRACE COTTAGE HOSPITAL , Townshend, VT."
