FOUNDATION NEWS Director of Development Named
Andrea Eginton Seaton has been named the new Director of Development at
Grace Cottage Foundation. "Andrea was the natural choice for this position,"said Don Leigh, Executive Director. "She's been running our office for over three years, so she knows every aspect of the job, and has worked with many of our donors. Also, she's sold on the mission of the Foundation -- to raise $8 million dollars by 2004." A native of Stamford, CT, Seaton received her BA in English from Princeton University and an MBA in marketing from Fordham University. She resides in East Dover with her husband, Mike, and their two daughters, Katherine, 9, and Sarah, 7. Andrea reports to Don Leigh. Gyori is New Foundation Office Manager
Andrea Seaton's first task in her new position was to find a replacement
to fill her shoes as Office Manager/Development Assistant. The applicant
pool was large, but her selection of Mary Gyori was right on target. A native of Sydney, Australia, Mary has been a Vermont resident since 1981. For the past twelve years, she was the regional coordinator for Prevent Child Abuse -- Vermont. She lives along the West River in Dummerston with her son, Liam, 17; her son Sasha, 19, lives in Brattleboro. Mary has already energetically and enthusiastically demonstrated her many talents in the day-to-day activities of the Foundation. 50th Anniversary Campaign Goes Over The Top The 1999 Golden Anniversary of Grace Cottage Hospital was celebrated with many striking events, but none more meaningful than the successful completion of the special 50 Years of Grace fundraising campaign. To reach the Foundation's ambitious goal of two million dollars, more than 800 Grace Cottage supporters contributed a total of $2,824,685.00. Once again, we are reminded of the "love and pennies" that come forth when the call goes out for financial assistance to maintain health care services needed by the community. And all of us at the Otis Center are grateful to those whose contributions to the 50th anniversary campaign will do much to assure our existence for the next 50 years. Director's Meeting, February 19 The highlight of the meeting agenda was an analysis of the Foundation's performance by Bill Asbell, consultant from the firm of Mather and Hopkins. In his comprehensive report, Asbell stated that we are on track with our long-range plan, compared favorably with our counterparts at similar Foundations, and could be expected to reach our realistic goals. He urged that Foundation Directors participate as much as possible in the solicitation of major gifts. Directors were pleased that this objective report from an "outsider" was so positive. Good News Department Year-to-date financial reports from Otis Center CEO Al LaRochelle are most encouraging, and a tribute to the management of his administration. The financials show a major improvement in operating efficiency resulting in the current "in the black" bottom line. Congratulations from the Foundation to its O.H.C.C. partners. The Team Is In Place With Andrea Seaton assuming the Director of Development position, and Mary Gyori now on board as Office Manager/Development Assistant, the Foundation is set for a permanent, productive future. Along with Executive Director Don Leigh, they invite you to visit the busy Foundation office (first floor, Dr. Wallace's professional building, up the street from the hospital) to see what they do and how they do it. Their high energy level comes from two sources: their exciting mission and the ever-present coffee pots (caffeinated and decaf!). Join them! Wood's Tea Company Concert
