Michele has been working in the health care field for the past seven years as a Licensed Nurse's Assistant. She will be studying for her Licensed Practical Nursing degree at Thompson School of Nursing starting on Monday, August 20, 2001. Her ultimate goal is to become a Registered Nurse and she hopes to continue working for the Otis Health Care Center.

The Robert Crowell Scholarship is awarded by the Valley Health Council through the generosity of the Crowell family.

THRIFT SHOP: For those looking for bargains, this shop is a "must see." The prices are probably the lowest around, and the selection of good quality items is exceptional.

Jean Maples, Thrift Shop volunteer coordinator, can always use more volunteers. The shifts usually consist of three hours, morning or afternoon. The donation of time for even one or two shifts per month would be appreciated. Call Jean at 254-1258 or Elaine at 365-7140 x. 118. The advertised hours for the Thrift Shop are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mon., Wed., Fri. and Sat. The shop is located in the West River Market building in East Jamaica.

SENIOR VAN: The new van has arrived and there is room for more than twice as many riders. In cooperation with the Council on Aging, the Valley Health Council sponsors four van trips each month. On the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, the van goes from Weston/Londonderry to Springfield, VT and back (call Helen at 875-6148 or Eliza at 874-4258 for reservations). On the 1st and 3rd Fridays, the van goes from Wardsboro/Townshend to Brattleboro and back (call 365-7140 x118 for reservations). This service provides door-to-door transportation for errands and medical appointments.

TOENAIL CLINIC: This free service is held the third Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Valley Health's room in the old Stratton House building. This service is provided by Mary Western, RN, who is trained in foot care.
