The Townshend Common is the place to be on Saturday, August 5, when the annual festival of Fair Day family fun is enhanced by a special Golden Jubilee birthday party.

Fair Day regulars can expect to find tried and true events that have proved popular through the years, plus many surprises to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Fair-goers will want a piece of the huge birthday cake cut by Effie Chamberlin. Effie, who will retire in September after 39 years of dedicated, professional management service at Grace Cottage Hospital, will be honored during a special program at the bandstand.
