60th HOSPITAL FAIR DAY WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

August 9, 2010 On behalf of past, present, and future patients and employees of Grace Cottage Hospital, I would like to express sincere appreciation to Grace Cottage Hospital's hard-working Auxililary officers, volunteers and members. This dedicated group made this year's Fair Day the absolute best ever in the 60-year history of the event. The weather was perfect (75 degrees and sunny), the crowd was the biggest in history, and a great time was had by everyone in attendance. The Townshend Common was packed with people from 9 a.m. until well into the afternoon. It certainly seemed as if last year's Auxiliary gift of $60,000 to Grace Cottage Hospital may be matched this year. Last year, the Auxiliary's gift was used to purchase a telemetry system for monitoring of patients' vital signs. The dispensation of this year's gift is yet to be determined, but it will be just as significant for Grace Cottage's patient care. A grateful hospital salutes each and every one of the thousands of fairgoers, the hundreds (perhaps even thousands!) of individuals and businesses that contribute, and the over 200 Fair Day volunteers (the number of volunteers seemed much larger this year!).  Fair Day Chair Stanley Holt and his wife, Marge; Auxiliary Vice President Barb Barber; Auxiliary Secretary Beth Ann Agostini, Auxiliary Treasurer Mike Adrian, Assistant Treasurer Samantha Wilson; Hospital Liaison and Common Set-up Chairman Jim Crozier, and Dr. Robert Backus deserve special recognition for the work they do on behalf of Grace Cottage Hospital's Auxiliary, year-round.. Without the devotion and hard work of these individuals,  and the generous support of the community, Grace Cottage Hospital Fair Day wouldn't be the success that it is.
