TOWNSHEND ADULT ACTIVITY CENTER CHANGES

What’s in a name? Plenty, according to those
affiliated with the Townshend Adult Activity Center (TAAC). Since
1991, when TAAC was founded, many people have commented on the
harsh sound of the acronym (“it sounds like something you
stick in a wall”), and the fact that the name doesn’t
identify it as part of Grace Cottage in any way. When Debbie Brookes,
RN, was hired recently to oversee the program, it seemed an appropriate
time to change the name .
Grace Cottage Adult Day Services is the only day
program in southern Vermont that offers on-site rehabilitation,
laboratory, podiatry, and x-ray services. The program is available
to any adult who requires company and care during the day. Stimulating
leisure activities, outings, and workshops tailored to individual
preference, hot meals, nursing supervision, companionship, on-call
physicians in case of emergencies and social services are all
part of the program. The setting is bright, cheerful and homelike,
overlooking the beautiful Garden of Grace and the Mollie Beattie
Woodland Garden.
