| HOSPITAL & FAMILY HEALTH SERVICES EXPAND
With Grace Cottage Hospital and Grace Cottage Family Health bursting at the seams, the wing that was Stratton House Nursing Home is rapidly being filled. The "minor procedures" room (for podiatry surgery and other very minor operations), has been moved from downstairs into one of the former patient rooms. Across the hall, the bone densitometer now has its own space in the radiology department. Inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy have also moved from the original Grace Cottage building into two former patient rooms.
As anyone who has visited the laboratory well knows, it had outgrown
its cramped quarters long ago and will shortly be moving into three
former patient rooms and the nurses' station at Stratton House.
Grace Cottage Adult Day Services (see related story) remains in
the former Activities Room and porch, in addition to a separate
"quiet" room.
Meanwhile, construction has been proceeding at a rapid pace downstairs, in the original hospital building where the Grace Cottage Family Health physicians and nurse practitioners are located. Visitors will notice the changes immediately, as the reception, nursing, and medical records areas have been moved and expanded into the former inpatient rehab and operating rooms.
Most of the renovations are being completed by Grace Cottage's highly skilled maintenance department, which consists of Jim Crozier, Doug Winot and Gary Lavorgna. For a fuller explanation of changes being made, or a complete tour, call Andrea or Mary at Grace Cottage Foundation, (802) 365-9109.
