Safe Haven for Babies
Grace Cottage Hospital has been designated as a Baby Safe Haven
by a law passed in the state of Vermont during 2006. This law permits
a person to leave a baby up to 30 days old at a designated safe
haven without fear of penalty - as long as the baby has not been
abused or neglected. To be protected by the law, the person must
hand the baby to a volunteer or an employee. Other Baby Safe Havens
in Vermont include all police or fire stations, other health care
facilities, and places of worship.
