| In the famous film, “The Seven Samurai,” there
is a scene in the movie where villagers, whose homes have been
plundered by bandits, go to the community wise man and ask him
how they can protect themselves. He suggests that they hire
a professional soldier, a Samurai. The villagers respond that
they are poor and cannot afford a Samurai. The old man ponders
awhile and then quietly responds, “Find a hungry Samurai.” |

Hospital Fair Day is coming up on Saturday, August 4
and we need “hungry Samurai” to help a few days before,
during and after the Fair. I use this metaphor because Samurai were
more than just mercenary warriors. Samurai yearned to serve; Samurai
were virtuous people desiring to fulfill their destinies by helping
their communities. We have scores of volunteers on Fair Day, people
who recognize that working for their local hospital is a wonderful
mission, and we are thankful for their commitment. We need more
helpers -- become a Samurai for Grace Cottage Hospital Fair Day.
Call Barb Barber (365-4707) or Stan Holt (365-4455) to volunteer,
in any capacity, for any amount of time that you can give.
Stan Holt, President
