| DR. SHAFER HONORED BY UVM The
2005 University of Vermont College of Medicine Dean’s Award for
Excellence in Teaching Family Medicine has been awarded to Timothy
Shafer, one of Grace Cottage’s five Family Practice Physicians.
Dr. Shafer, an assistant clinical professor of family medicine with
the UVM College of Medicine, was recognized for his outstanding
effectiveness in teaching medical students the art and science of
medicine.
“The students love the welcome they get from all
the staff and the patients at Grace Cottage,” said
Dr. Shafer. “It is our collective responsibility to
teach the next generation of doctors. Kudos to the
patient patients!” Dr. Shafer, who has been practicing
family medicine in Townshend for more than
20 years, received his undergraduate degree from
Oberlin College. He is a graduate of Dartmouth
Medical School and the Lancaster (PA) Family
Practice Residency Program. He also teaches
medical students from Albany Medical School.
Shafer and his wife, writer Deb Luskin, reside in
Williamsville, VT with their three daughters.
