SHORT TAKES
- Director of Nursing Barb Williams recently attended a two-day Emergency Management Workshop in Boston, to learn about coping with disasters. Grace Cottage recently participated in a county-wide SARS drill, and various types of drills are upcoming.
- Over 400 Grace Cottage volunteers were invited to a Volunteer Luncheon at Grace Cottage in May; approximately 70 volunteers enjoyed a bountiful buffet by the Dietary Department.
- EMS Educator and Paramedic Mike Murrow offered a free, one-day Pediatric First Aid course for the community. If there is additional interest, he’ll schedule another; call him at (802) 365-7920 x. 121.
- The ribbon-cutting for the lab was held on May 22. Newly-expanded and renovated thanks to Grace Cottage Auxiliary’s $38,500 donation from Fair Day 2003, the lab is now more than twice as large as its predecessor, and almost eight times bigger than the original Grace Cottage lab. The new lab has played host to several Leland & Gray High School Biology and Environmental Science classes. “Thanks for all your help,” wrote one teacher. “It’s nice to know you are just a phone call away for setting up visits or answering questions on disposal and other pertinent information.”
