WISHES FULFILLED...

The day after the last Cottage Door was mailed, the phone began to ring, with contributors calling to fund Wish List requests, including laryngoscopes. With funds received, the ambulance crew purchased two laryngoscopes. The following Saturday evening, the crew responded to a 911 call; someone was choking on a piece of meat. When they arrived at the home, the victim was no longer breathing. With the help of the new laryngoscope, one of the ambulance crew members was able to remove the meat. The victim spent the night at Grace Cottage for observation and, except for a sore throat, was fine the next day. Thank you, Grace Cottage supporters, for helping to save a life. ~ ~ ~

  • Laryngoscope Kits were donated by Ernest & Sheila Friedli, and Doug & Marilyn LaBarr. Only two were needed, so with the permission of the contributors, additional funds donated for Laryngoscope kits were used to fund a mobile radio and other Ambulance equipment. These contributors were Alvan & Julia Alley, Merilyn Brown, Dorothy Nessel, and Bill & Leona Tabell.
  • Hank & Shirley Sanders of Portsmouth, NH and West Townshend, VT donated six pagers for the Ambulance crew and a portable ultrasound for Grace Cottage’s Rehabilitation Department.
  • A total of six new IV poles were donated by John & Leslie Markey, Jean Coburn, Steve Goldberg, Jacqueline Sharwell and the Valley Lions Club.
  • The Townshend Library donated a DVD player to the Adult Day program at Grace Cottage.
  • The Pollio Family Foundation made a grant to Grace Cottage in the amount of $1,500. Along with the check came these comments from Elizabeth Pollio: “We as a family living in Grafton have been so pleased with the care-taking of this small rural hospital. We trust this will be used for the provisions needed for the best health care and emergency maintenance.”
“Old Folks Are Worth A Fortune…

Yes, a fortune! We have silver in our hair, gold in our teeth, lead in our feet and gas in our stomachs! (and at current prices, that gas is becoming the most valuable commodity!)”
