Carolyn Whittemore, Darcey Dunn, Edna Denton, Dottie Hilton and Susan Tweedy

Carolyn Whittemore, RN (March) - "Carolyn demonstrates a high quality of nursing performance and compassion. She is self-motivated, and is willing to do whatever is required within her scope of practice." Carolyn has worked at Grace Cottage for twelve years; she began as a nurses' aide (LNA), became a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and is now a registered nurse (RN).

Darcey Dunn, Housekeeping (April) - "Darcey takes great pride in keeping the hospital clean. She's in constant motion, with attention to small details, constantly polishing and cleaning." Darcey has been working at Grace Cottage for two years.

For the first time in the history of the Employee of the Month program, there was a tie vote in May:

Dottie Hilton, Adult Day Services (May) - "Dottie has fabulous team spirit. Clients are frequently heard to say 'Dottie works so hard for us.' - Dottie began working in Housekeeping at Grace Cottage in 1992; she is now an Activity Assistant in the Adult Day Program.

Susan Tweedy, Business Office, Outpatient Registration (May) - "Susan has a great rapport with patients. She is also well-known in the local community, which is reassuring to patients as they come in for lab tests, etc. She never lets an issue become a problem. She always has a positive attitude." Sue has been at Grace Cottage for five years; she started in Housekeeping.

Edna Denton, LNA (June) - "You just know the shift is going well when Edna is on. Patients and coworkers love her. She’s a dedicated employee, kind, thorough, compassionate, cheerful and upbeat." Edna has been at Grace Cottage for 29 years; she began as a nurses’ aide, working under the direction of her mother, Madeline Abbott who, for 33 years, was also a much-beloved nurse at Grace Cottage.

A Grateful Family Writes ~
A grateful family writes ~ "There is not another hospital in this world that treats a dying patient and family with the care, love and compassion that you all exhibited with mom and with us. This very difficult time for our family was made more tolerable by each and every one of you at Grace Cottage. Thank you for your tender loving care for Mother. Thank you all for feeding us, cleaning up after us, and being there for us to cry, laugh and share memories with."
Sincerely,
The family of Mabel Wright
