53RD ANNUAL FAIR DAY
FAST APPROACHING!
Saturday, August 2 will be here before we know it!
Mark your calendar now, so that you don’t miss
what has been called "One Of Vermont’s Top Ten
Events."
We have plenty of clothing donations, but we need
help sorting and hanging during the week before
Fair Day; just come to Leland & Gray any day the
week before Fair Day to help out. If you have book
donations please call 365-7278 to reach Julie Lavorgna,
book booth chairperson, but please note that
encyclopedias, textbooks, Readers Digest Condensed,
magazines, and books in poor condition are
not accepted. Julie also needs help 9-3 daily during
the week before Fair Day, at the high school. (Thank
you, Leland and Gray, for the donation of space). If
you have items to donate for the Auction, call Stan
Holt at 365-4455 to arrange pick-up.
"Great Scot" is our Fair Day magician this year.
The Westchester Firefighters Pipes & Drums will
again lead the Birthday Parade, which begins
promptly at 10 a.m. on the Townshend Common.
Thanks to Bea Fisher of Grafton, who came up with
the Fair Day slogan at Super Supper back in February,
this year’s Fair Day T-shirts will read "Grace
Cottage: Our Door Is Always Open".
No matter what your talents, you can be assured that
there is a volunteer position just exactly right for you
at Fair Day. Whether it be directing traffic, driving a
van, selling raffle tickets, flipping burgers or carrying
auction items, there’s something for everyone who
wants to help, and any hours you can contribute are
greatly appreciated. Call Stan Holt at 365-4455 for
more information.
Last year, the Auxiliary donated $40,000 to Grace
Cottage - badly needed funds to help keep our rural
hospital healthy. Let’s try to top that this year...with
your help, we can do it. If you prefer not to volunteer,
come to Fair Day, bring your friends and family
and, as Doctor Otis used to say, Spend freely!.
