Gifts Of Grace

The Morris Levinson Foundation and Barbara Levinson gave Grace Cottage $52,000 in December to move Dr. Shafer’s office to the main Grace Cottage campus. A $10,000 matching gift challenge was made as part of the gift, and met by many generous contributors. The move will be made this summer after the necessary renovations are made to the original Stratton House building. It is with great sadness that we report Barbara Levinson’s death on January 29th. Her generosity and commitment to Grace Cottage will always be remembered.

The Fanny Holt Ames and Edna Louise Holt Fund challenged Grace Cottage to raise $19,250 from the community for a Mobile Isolation Unit, for which the Fund would provide a matching gift. The funds were raised within a few weeks, thanks to a number of very generous supporters.

The Windham Foundation of Grafton, Vermont awarded Grace Cottage Hospital $12,000 for a patient lift and a Theratouch ultrasound. The lift helps nurses move patients out of bed, and the ultrasound is used by the Rehab department to relax patients’ painful muscles.

The Stratton Foundation awarded Grace Cottage a McCarty Grant of $1,400 to purchase an alternating pressure mattress, for patients receiving wound care treatment for pressure sores and ulcers.
