SPLITTING HAIRS

Five Grace Cottage employees recently had 10" or
more of their hair cut off in order to donate their tresses
to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization
that provides hairpieces for financially disadvantaged
children suffering from medically-diagnosed long-term
hair loss.
“Wendy, Pam and I all work in the Grace Cottage Rehab Department
and Jodi and Amber are nurses in the hospital, so we all see one
another on pretty much a daily basis,” said Laura Smith, Rehab Receptionist.
“The amazing thing, though, is that none of us discussed this in
advance. We just each did it and found out later that the others
had all grown our hair out and had it cut for the same reason! I’m
a light brunette, Amber’s a dark brunette, Pam and Jodi have blonde
hair, and Wendy is a redhead, so we covered the spectrum.” A cancer
survivor, Laura underwent chemotherapy and lost her hair 15 years
ago, which is what motivated her to donate for the first time. Others,
like Jodi, donate every time they have an extra 10" to cut.
