| GRACE COTTAGE AUXILIARY

Thadeusz Kantor (1915-1990) (also known as the “Polish Jackson Pollock”) is the creator of this painting, which brought $15,000 at auction, to benefit Grace Cottage.

Take a good look at this picture. It’s an oil painting that
was donated for Fair Day, by a South Newfane resident. When our
auctioneer, Kit Martin, looked at the painting and then researched
the artist, he thought we might not get its true value at the Fair.
We took it to a Boston auction house for an appraisal and put it
in their November art auction. It sold for $15,000.
Last year, when we asked for art donations for the Fair Day auction,
the response was great. We had two paintings by an artist from Maine
that brought in over $2,000, and a number of Japanese block prints
that sold well. We hope that people will be as generous with their
art and antiques this year. We assure you that we will do everything
possible to maximize the worth of your contribution.
With the net proceeds from the last two Fair Days, the Hospital
Auxiliary is able to give Grace Cottage $83,000 towards building
a new kitchen and community room where Grace Cottage Adult Day was
located. We thank our contributors and members, and we are looking
forward to another successful year.
For donations of various items to the Fair, call me at (802) 365-4455
or e-mail me at spenholt@svcable.net.
We now have an easy, accessible place in “downtown Townshend”
where we can store donated items year-round, so don’t hesitate
to call now!
Stan Holt, President
Bette Parsons accepted the Ruth Pelsue Auxilian of the Year Award
from President Stan Holt at October’s Annual Grace Cottage
Auxiliary meeting. Bette is a special lady who puts her best foot
forward and makes everything look easy, no matter what circumstances
she may encounter, especially when it comes to the Chicken B-B-Q
at the Auxiliary’s annual Hospital Fair Day!
We’re still receiving an outstanding response to our Auxiliary
Membership drive. Your loyal support and generosity are very much
appreciated.
