WHO IS THAT MAN IN THE WHITE COAT?!
Although
he’s worked at Grace Cottage since July 2003, Physician Assistant
Don Jackson says that he’s relatively unknown. Perhaps this is because
Don works a 24-hour shift in the Emergency Room on Saturdays, beginning
at 8 a.m. Even staff members who work only weekdays are unclear
about Don’s identity!
A New Hampshire native,
Don graduated from the University of New Hampshire
and the Yale University Physicians Associate Program.
“I took my first PA job in Cavendish, Vermont for one
year...that was 30 years ago,” laughed Don.
During the week, Don works at a family practice in
Ludlow, VT. During summer months, he sometimes
makes the 50-minute commute to Grace Cottage from
Ludlow in his 1969 red Corvette. In his free time, he
enjoys playing the guitar, but says that he’s “not ready
for prime time yet!”
“Working at Grace Cottage is like coming home to the
way that medicine should be practiced, and the way it
used to be. A lot of bigger hospitals have lost the personal
ambiance that you find at Grace Cottage’s Emergency
Room. Patients still get devoted, one-on-one care at
Grace Cottage, and the Grace Cottage staff is fantastic
- I absolutely can’t say enough about them.”
