FOUNDATION NEWS

Grace Cottage Hospital's End-Of-Year Appeal was a success, thanks to the 560 supporters that contributed a total of $140,000. 15% were first-time contributors to Grace Cottage, and several had not donated since Campaign '90. Word has been received from Probate Courts about the settlement of two bequests (more details will follow in the next Cottage Door).

The Mary Louise Beaulieu Scholarship Fund has been initiated at Grace Cottage by CEO Al LaRochelle, in memory of his mother, who died in 1994 in a house fire, at age 65. A native of Rumford, Maine, Mary Louise was one of sixteen children (fourteen boys and two girls), whose mother died at age 42. "Her life was never easy," said Al, "but she was always doing the best with what little she had. And she was always telling us to keep studying!"

Interest generated by the Mary Louise Beaulieu Scholarship Fund will be awarded annually to applicants studying to be nurses or X-ray technologists. For more information, or to contribute to this Scholarship Fund, contact Grace Cottage Foundation at (802) 365-9109.

Thank You! To all of you who stopped into the Foundation office over the holidays and to those of you who took Andrea and Mary up on our persistent offers to join us for lunch and a tour - thank you! We often say that we're so privileged to be able to meet and get to know so many upbeat, philanthropic people, those who give to Grace Cottage in so many ways, including those who volunteer throughout the year and at Fair Day. Have a happy and healthy 2004.

CECIL BILLS MEMORIAL FUNDCECIL BILLS MEMORIAL FUND
The family of Cecil Bills has set up a Memorial Fund to benefit Heins Home. Cecil, who died this past June, at age 98, greatly enjoyed his years at Heins Home, and his family wanted to give something back to the Community Care home. To date, almost $1,000 has been raised in Cecil's memory. Individuals or organizations interested in contributing to the Cecil Bills Memorial Fund for Heins Home are invited to send donations to Grace Cottage Foundation, P.O. Box 1, Townshend, VT 05353, and the Bills family will be notified of your contribution.
