December 27, Dr. Kimona Alin and her husband, Jim
Sweeney, became proud first-time parents. Jurgen Konrad Sweeney arrived
(after a great deal of protestation on his part) weighing 7 lbs. 3
ozs. Mother, father and baby are all doing fine.

Although he abhors attention, Dr. Robert Backus
has been in the spotlight a great deal lately. In October, he received
the Vermont Medical Society's Physician of the Year Award. The award
is given annually to "a Vermont physician who has demonstrated outstanding
performance in the quality of care given to his or her patients,
demonstrated skillful and compassionate patient care, and has demonstrated
dedication to the welfare of his or her patients in accordance with
accepted principles of good medical practice." Dr. B's patients
know that this description fits him to a "T"!
