Dan Philips Joins Grace Cottage Family Health

Physician Assistant Dan Philips hasn’t had a dull moment since he started at Grace Cottage Family Health this summer.

A graduate of Hunter College in Manhattan with a degree in Biology, Dan completed his Physician Assistant degree from Cornell University this spring, after clinical rotations in New Mexico, New York and Vermont.

“I knew when I worked in Grace Cottage’s ER this winter that this was the place I wanted to be,” said Dan. “I like the intimacy of the community, the collaboration between the providers here, and the interestingly diverse population that Grace Cottage serves. My wife and I knew that we wanted to settle in a rural area, and this is it!”

Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where his father was a Presbyterian minister, Dan and his family moved to the U.S. when he was four. He developed a love of music at an early age, and contemplated a career as a musician and songwriter before going into medicine. He and his wife, Dana Ruppert, live in West Brattleboro.
