Strategic Planning Goals
Employees of the Otis Health Care Center are working to
implement five-year strategic goals. The goals include:
- reducing employee turnover (it’s low by healthcare
industry standards, but even lower would be better)
- obtaining patient satisfaction scores no lower than
the 95th percentile (Grace Cottage has the highest
patient satisfaction scores of any hospital in the state and
most of them are above the 95th percentile, but some are
not, and we’re all working on this)
- achieving a net operating gain (this would be wonderful,
and it’s what every rural hospital dreams of)
- increasing staff productivity (by improving processes,
we hope to make this higher)
- increasing diagnostic services (see page 1!)
- expanding market share (in a variety of ways,
including reaching out to new area residents).
The plan began with a day-long Retreat for Otis Health
Care Center and Grace Cottage Foundation Board
members, medical staff, and the senior leadership team,
at which the initial outline was devised; department
heads and staff then had an opportunity for input and
change before the plan was finalized, and the Board
approved the plan at their September meeting. Goals
will be measured monthly and annually.
