Project Linus Donates Blankets

Christine Cathcart of Townshend displays one of her Project Linus
group’s homemade quilts to be donated to a child in the ER at Grace
Cottage Hospital.
Thanks to the local chapter of a national volunteer organization
called Project Linus, children and teens in Grace Cottage’s Emergency
Room or seriously ill children in the physicians’ office can
experience comfort with the gift of homemade blankets.
Organized a year ago by Christine Cathcart of Townshend, the
local group of 30 volunteers has already made and donated about
50 blankets to Grace Cottage and two other local organizations.
Some wonderful stories have been told about grateful recipients,
including one about a boy who cried when he realized the handmade
quilt he’d been given was his to keep forever.
“Anyone is welcome to join our group,” said Christine. “We meet
the third Wednesday of every month for lunch and projects, and
we have a great time, knowing that what we’re doing is going to a
wonderful cause!”
