| Valley Cares Assisted & Independent Living Ready for
Residents
If all goes according to plan, the 28-unit Assisted Living building and the
24-unit Independent Living building will be opening to current Heins Home
residents at the end of October; others whose applications have been accepted
will move in during early November. Valley Cares Board President
John Nopper credits Operations Director Bob Crego and Care Director
Catherine Amarante for their work. “Speaking for all of us at Valley Cares,
we plan to continue the tradition of caring for elders in our community.”

Although he would greatly prefer that we not mention it,Valley
Cares Board President John Nopper is the 2007 recipient of the
Miles Jensen Award, given annually by Housing Vermont to an
individual who has made an outstanding volunteer contribution
to affordable housing. At the awards ceremony in Burlington in
September, it was noted that “John is a leader in the community.
He has the resolve and good nature it takes to see such a complex
community project through.” Well said.

The final touches are made at West River Valley Independent Housing.
