Fair Day weather was perfect again this year. Some say
the claim, “It hasn’t rained on Fair Day for 56 years!” isn’t
true. Does anyone know otherwise? In any case, we are
getting a reputation.
Seriously, it was a great year. We grossed over $71,000.
Of this, $10,000 will help pay for the hospital parking lot,
$3,000 will go for continuing education of hospital staff,
and $26,000 will fund an X-ray processor, an EKG for
Grace Cottage Family Health, a PedAlert Monitor for the
Rehab department, and a heated plate dispenser for hospital
patients. Other monies raised will help pay for our
storage shed on the hill behind the parking lot.
The teddy bear donated by Mary Meyer was won by Carolyn
Pieciek of Brattleboro, and the Montreal trip by Joanne
Testa of West Townshend. Rosanne Siegler from Middletown,
RI, won the $1,000 grand prize and graciously donated
the prize back to the Auxiliary. The quilt made and
donated by Christine Cathcart was won by Ragna Somme
of Newfane.
I want to thank the Fair Committee: Chair of the Common,
Jim Crozier; Booth Chair, Barb Barber; Mike Adrian
and Samantha Wilson, the bank; and Sharon Redfield and
Isabelle Westcott, organizers of the Fair. Finally, thank
you to the hundreds of volunteers who worked diligently
through the heat of the day to bring us a great Fair Day.
