This past Spring the Maintenance Department at the Otis Health Care Center unearthed several items that had belonged to Mary L. Plumb. Miss Plumb, whose home became the original Grace Cottage Hospital building, was asked by Grace Cottage’s founder, Dr. Otis, to be one of the original Grace Cottage Hospital Trustees.

As the Maintenance Department was cleaning the original hospital attics and preparing for renovations, some old trunks containing vintage clothing, quilts, and other ephemera were discovered.

Over $1,600 was realized from the sale of these items, including the trunks. Thus, Miss Plumb’s legacy of giving to Grace Cottage has continued into this century.
