Wishes Made

  • The Maintenance Department has an eight-year-old snowblower that is underpowered and inadequate to meet the ever-increasing snow-removal needs. There are now 21 entries and fire exits, including handicappedaccess ramps, in the five buildings owned by Grace Cottage Hospital (Who’s counting? The Maintenance Department guys who have to get rid of all the snow, that’s who!) A new snowblower will help with patient safety (and Maintenance Department sanity!). A Toro Powershift 1028 is $1,800, including trade-in.
  • The Emergency Room needs an adult bed/stretcher for the new Emergency Room “overflow” room that is being constructed in the old laboratory. The cost is $2,500.
  • A continual passive motion machine is needed by the Rehabilitation Department to assist those who are recovering from various type of joint replacement surgery. This machine helps patients regain muscle strength. The cost is $2,400.
  • An otoscope is needed for the practitioners to check the ear canals of patients of all ages. The cost is $550.
  • A variety of weights is needed by the Strong Living program that meets here at Grace Cottage twice a week. Nine 10-lb ankle weight sets are needed, for a total of $350, plus four 20-lb. ankle weight sets, costing a total of $250, and one set of dumbells, for $225.
