Valley Health Council

LENDING LIBRARY: To meet the medical needs of residents in need of orthopedic aids, the Valley Health Council has a “Loan Closet” of durable medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, commodes, toilet seat extenders and shower chairs, which we lend out free of charge. This service saves those in need of such equipment for only a short time from having to purchase the item.

HOLIDAY RAFFLE: The Valley Health Council is planning its third annual Holiday Raffle. Prizes for the raffle are donated by local merchants, and tickets go on sale in November. The drawing will be on Friday, December 19th. To purchase tickets, visit the Valley Health Council office or the Messenger Valley Pharmacy.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED:

Deborah Wilson (l.) accepts the Godt Scholarship from Valley Health Council Director Elaine Scott.
Deborah Wilson (l.) accepts the Godt Scholarship from Valley Health Council Director Elaine Scott.

Deborah Wilson of South Newfane has been named the recipient of this year’s $1,000 Eugene Godt Scholarship, awarded annually to a resident of the West River Valley or a nearby town who is pursuing a career in healthcare. Wilson has worked at Grace Cottage Hospital as a Licensed Nurse Assistant (LNA) and unit coordinator since 1989. She will be studying respiratory therapy in a two-year program at New Hampshire Technical Community College in Claremont, NH. “I’d always wanted to go back to school,” said Deb, “but didn’t know how I could afford it. Now, thanks to the help of the Godt scholarship, I can!”

The Eugene Godt Scholarship is funded annually by the Robert L. Crowell Charitable Fund.
